Last week I was feeling really down. I was annoyed with myself that I wasn't better yet, even though I thought I should be. I was also getting frustrated that every time I went to my GP, I got stronger medication, suggesting I am getting worse not better, as I think I should be.
I reached the point where I couldn't see the point in even trying to get better. I have been trying so hard, fighting every step of the way, and instead of moving forwards, I seemed to be moving backwards. Never mind being back at square one, I felt like after months of fighting to get better I was at square -5!!
However, my guide leader soon made my thoughts change! She is one of the only people that I would talk to about how I am feeling. I told her what was going on and her reply just suddenly made everything make sense. I couldn't believe I didn't see it that way myself! She reminded me of a message put out by a weight loss company, which my mother and they have attended and where I volunteer working the computers. The message is that there is a direct route and a scenic route. The direct route will take you to your destination quicker, but the scenic route will still get you to your destination.
I just want everyone to know that every journey will have its twists and turns, its ups and downs, but things will get better and you will get through it eventually. It may take time but you will get there. Also, don't compare your journey to anyone else's. Everyone's journey is different, as is everyone!
